The purpose of this research was to investigate how Environmental Education (EE) practices focusing on the water theme are being addressed in research in the Brazilian Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations (BDTD) without period demarcation, using the descriptor: “Environmental Education”, constituting a research with a qualitative approach. Therefore, a new search was made using the descriptor: “Water” in each of the selected surveys, with the intention of finding educational practices of EE with a focus on water. Which were analyzed based on the perspectives of critical EE and transformative/emancipatory EE of Loureiro (2003, 2006, 2020). As a result, we obtained 10 dissertations, with varied practices, from games to field trips. As for the perspectives, a predominance was found in the critical perspective, which is closely linked to the use of games and questionnaires, being the main practices found in the researches. In this way, we were able to understand the educational practices of EE with their respective perspectives. Therefore, we understand that the role of educators in the school space is fundamental, as a mediator of knowledge, in order to critically provide individual and collective transformations, together with the individual's emancipation in favor of environmental issues.
