Author Guidelines

Scope and Editorial Policy

General

This is a publication dedicated to the production and dissemination of theoretical or applied topics involving the evaluative academic bodies of our institution and other national and international academic institutions committed to fields of knowledge related to various themes, including reflections and works on teaching practices and their implications.

The reception of contributions is ongoing; texts are accepted year-round (scientific articles, translations, and reviews) in Spanish and/or Portuguese. The criteria defined by the Editorial Committee for article selection are as follows: academic quality of the article and disciplinary relevance to the field of education. Articles are first reviewed by the Ethics and Editing Committee to assess whether they meet scientific, editorial, and formal requirements, and then evaluated through a double-blind peer-review process, with a triple-blind review in case of a tie, to ensure the anonymity of authors and reviewers.

Translations correspond to a section dedicated to presenting scientific works already published in journals in other languages, translated by the authors themselves with prior authorization from the original publishers, adhering to the length and format specified in the articles section. In such cases, the Ethics and Editing Committee will decide the evaluation process.

For submissions in languages other than those mentioned, the Ethics and Editing Committee will determine the publication language.

Publication Scope

Sections of the Journal

The journal consists of four sections, all peer-reviewed:

1. Scientific-academic articles.
2. Reviews of defended theses.
3. Book reviews.
4. Event reviews.
5. Translations.

Evaluation Process

In the first stage, the article will be reviewed by the Ethics and Editing Committee to determine if it meets the publication guidelines. Works that do not meet the formal requirements will not be accepted. Next, the Editorial Team will select articles based on the following criteria:

- Academic quality of the reflection

- Disciplinary relevance to the field of education

- Interdisciplinary approach to educational issues

- Originality of the contribution

In the second stage, the evaluation of works will be conducted through a double-blind peer-review system, with a triple-blind review in case of a tie.

After the submission deadline, accepted articles will be sent to specialist reviewers to begin the evaluation process and determine the article's status:

- Recommended for publication without modifications.

- Recommended for revision and resubmission.

- Not recommended for publication.

In case of discrepancies between evaluations, the article will be sent to a third reviewer, whose decision will determine its publication. The evaluation results are final and not subject to appeal.

The Ethics and Editing Committee will notify authors of their article's status. If partial modifications are suggested, authors will have two weeks to make the changes. The revised version will undergo a second evaluation. The journal estimates that 8 to 12 months may pass between article submission and potential publication.

The Editorial Team will not publish works whose content and/or authors are explicitly linked to interests harmful to Human Rights, as outlined in Ordinance 525, Article 6, Section 5, of UNR.

Adoption of a Code of Ethics

To safeguard the ethics of academic publications and ensure fair and ethical behavior with all parties, the Journal of the School of Educational Sciences adheres to the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

Anti-Plagiarism Policy

Upon receiving an article and prior to the evaluation process, online search tools are used to verify originality and prevent plagiarism. To confirm originality, articles may be examined using the Crossref Similarity Check service. If plagiarism and/or redundant publication are detected, the Ethics and Editing Committee of the Journal of the School of Educational Sciences will not initiate the evaluation process, and the author(s) will be notified.

In cases of redundant or duplicate publications, the guidelines established by COPE will be followed.

Digital Preservation Policy

The Journal of the School of Educational Sciences uses the PKP Preservation Network, which provides free preservation services for any OJS journal.

Interoperability Protocol

The journal is published using OJS (Open Journal Systems) and incorporates the OAI-PMH (Open Archive Initiative-Protocol for Metadata Harvesting) protocol, Version 2.0, allowing metadata to be obtained in various formats. This enables content to be collected by other distribution systems, such as digital repositories and harvesters. Each article includes Dublin Core meta-tags.
